Malmö Modern

Hej hooo! A few weeks ago I was in shop heaven when I visited Malmö Modern which sells amazing scandinavian designer items and a few fab international pieces too including a selection from the very wonderful Scottish designer Donna Wilson. The good news is they've just opened an online shop too (sorry...Sweden only). As you'd expect, the owners have a very cool home which I thought I'd share with you.  A cream bun for the person who can spy the most designer items?!!

It's a public holiday here today so we're heading off sailing for the day. It's a little choppy but hopefully that'll just add to the fun....! Have a lovely day. x

10 Monday Mix and match

Sometimes renovating my home feels like a complicated puzzle and some pieces simply won't fit. I've been scratching my head over the dining table and chairs for ages. Should they be a set of Eames? Wegner? IKEA? A simple rough wooden bench? And then my friend Sofia came over at the weekend and suggested a complete mix. YEEEESSSS!! It's so much easier to find a vintage bargain of just one piece too. Here's my inspiration.....I can't wait to get started!

I found all of these lovely pictures on Pinterest. And I feel incredibly guilty that just for the next couple of hours I'm going to have to credit them through my 'Fine Dining' board. But as soon as I find a quiet moment (I am at home with my two little girls this morning who are 3 and 1!) I promise to come back and credit each photo.

See you shortly and Happy Monday!

Thinking About You

A year ago today the tornados ripped through Alabama, changing so many lives.  Several of you e-mailed me after Wednesdays post to give your condolences about my client's previous lake house.  Thank you so very much, your kindness is appreciated greatly.  However, while any loss is sad, the real tornado stories are much deeper and well, tragic.  So, for those of you whose life was changed a year ago today this post is for you.  Some bright, happy pictures to make you smile.  Have a great weekend.

Pastels and white in Norway

Hej hej! And happy Friday! Today it's a very happy Friday for me simply because the sun is shining and spring is here. It's the simple things! And this home from the beautiful Norwegian blog Fryd og Design is the perfect home for a day like today. The pastels against the white backdrop are simply stunning.

Pictures Fryd og Design via 79 ideas
Jeanette of Fryd og Design is one of the key speakers at The Hive blog event in Berlin in a few weeks time. As is Nina of wonderful blog, 79 ideas. I'd sooooo love to go, I wonder if I can convince man that I need to do two trips in the month of May (I'm already heading to London!)?!

Have a lovely, inspiring weekend!

Children's bedrooms, dutch style.

Sorry to do this to you folks, but I have just found the most incredible online shop! Now, I am not much of a linguist, trust me I tried 'google translate' but it didn't work....but I think this shop is based out of Amsterdam, Holland?! Any hooo if you have a child, neice, friend with a child, live down the road from a child, you'll love this shop Onszelf. Just in case you're not already sold, here are a few pics from the website...

Onszelf
FAAAB! The spotted duvet fabric from the Bambi collection is already on my little girls beds (in my mind) and I'm just planning where to add all the wallpaper and posters. Isn't this just really one of the coolest kids decor spots ever?!

Progress...A Long Time In The Making

Last year a Birmingham client hired me to help decorate their lake house a couple of hours outside the city. (Before)
Every inch of the house was painted or tweaked.  Lots of new furniture was purchased, gorgeous curtains were hung, things were looking great.  This picture was taken early on installation day...
"After" shots were not taken because we thought we were returning in a couple of weeks to add a few finishing details.  Two days after this picture was taken the April tornadoes came through and the house completely destroyed.  Some pieces were salvaged but almost everything was lost.  So, this past fall the rebuilding process began.  This time we were designing every detail of their new family retreat.  Remember this picture?
Well that space eventually became this...
And last week it was back to the lake to check on the progress and this is what the house is looking like now...
Not much longer now and I will be showing you after pictures!

A Merry Mishap

Hej! I am very honoured to have written a guest post today for jewellery designer Jennifer, on her fantastic blog A Merry Mishap. I chose to write a post about the Swedish photographer Idha Lindhag (see my last post about Idha here!) and her images of Danish artist Tenka Gamelgaard's studio and home, You can check out my guest post here.

Jennifer's new jewellery collection on A Merry Mishap

I absolutely love the A Merry Mishap jewellery collection, and covet the coral pink and mint necklace, it would go great with my new mint skinny's from Zara! You must check out the shop here!

Explosions...of sorts*

Yesterday Henry's daycare called to say that he was running a fever so I hurried over to take that sweet baby home.  Perhaps sweet is not the appropriate word to describe a sick baby.  Perhaps explosive would be better since there were..ahem...outbursts of all kinds.

But every time I look down at him sleeping I swear I think it is my heart that might just explode right of my chest.

*Seriously? This is the best title I can come up with this morning?  I am blaming it on the lack of sleep last night.

The home of a Norwegian ceramic designer

I am just a little lost for words (not like me!). But homes like this Norwegian one of ceramic designer Silje Aune Eriksen featured in the Norwegian Elle Decoration is the reason I love Scandinavian interior style so much. This home is simply FAB! I love the colour combination of greys, white, neon, black and light wood and of course the beautiful ceramics!

To see more pictures of Silje's home, (yes there's more!) check out her blog. Some of the ceramics you see such as the milk jugs and cup cake holders are Silje's own design - you can buy the ceramics she has deisgned over at Hvit! Warning! Dangerous online shop alert!

Monday Inspiration

Just some things I pinned this weekend....Sliding screen doors for when I have a screened in patio...
Pretty lighting for when I have a pretty, high gloss, paneled hall...
For when....oh let's not even go there!
For when I have closet that has visible walls....
Ohhhh yes, for when I have my dream kitchen, it will have thick counters and most definitely a wood hood.
